Lawrence, KS (August 14, 2024) – Two people were injured following a vehicle collision in the Lawrence area on Tuesday, August 13. The accident was reported on Interstate 70 WB near mile marker 197.5 early that morning around 8:54 a.m. Local reports revealed that 19-year-old Tran Hoang Anh Huynh of Lawrence was driving a 2010 Kia Soul in the inside lane when they lost control of the vehicle.
The Kia struck a 2021 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by 36-year-old Francisco Vargas-Charles of Matamoros. The Kia continued to leave the roadway where it struck a barrier. Both Huynh and their passenger, 20-year-old Thu Thi Anh Doan also from Lawrence, were injured in the collision. The victims were treated at the scene by attending medical personnel. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress
