Lenexa, KS (December 6, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash on I-35 Southbound near the 223.2-mile marker, just south of 95th Street, left one person with serious injuries Thursday morning. The crash was reported at approximately 8:20 a.m.
According to law enforcement, a 2022 Ford F550 failed to slow or stop in time for traffic and struck the rear of a 2020 Kia Sportage that was slowing in the number three lane. The impact caused the Kia to veer across multiple lanes, ultimately colliding with the median barrier wall. The driver of the Kia, Samantha Hayes, 23, of Overland Park, KS, was transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital with suspected serious injuries. The driver of the Ford, Cameron Arnold, 18, of Lee’s Summit, MO, was uninjured.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, and the crash caused temporary traffic disruptions. An investigation into the collision is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
