Leon, KS (June 2, 2024) – A driver was hurt after another motorist failed to yield at a stop sign in the Leon area on Saturday, June 1. The accident was reported at the intersection of US-400 and SW Pickrell Road late that night around 6:04 p.m. It was reported that a 2009 GMC 3500 pickup truck driven by 22-year-old Adam Bouldjadj of El Dorado was stopped at the intersection.
At the same time, 63-year-old Robert Hammons of Leon was traveling westbound on the highway in a 2019 Ford Ranger pickup truck. Local reports indicated that Bouldjadj failed to yield to Hammons and entered the intersection while attempting to make a left turn, causing both vehicles to collide. The Ford crashed into the driver’s side of the GMC. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Both Hammons and his passenger, 70-year-old Doris Hammons also from Leon, were transported to Wesley Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
