Head-on Collisions in Kansas
Victims of head-on accidents are much more likely to suffer serious or life-threatening injuries. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) says that head-on collisions have a nearly 56 percent fatality rate, much higher than other types of car accidents. Most of the time, careless drivers who cross into oncoming traffic are to blame for these accidents. However, broken-down cars or bad road conditions can also play a role. About 10 percent of all road deaths nationwide involve head-on impacts, even though they only make up two percent of all reported crashes.
