Meriden, KS (March 26, 2024) – A teen driver was hurt after being involved in a crash with a semi-truck in the Meriden area on Monday, March 25. The accident was reported at the crossing of K-4 and Palmberg Street at around 5:35 p.m. Local sources indicated that the injured party was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck when she stopped at the intersection.
The Dodge entered the intersection and was hit by a 2011 Peterbilt semi-trailer that was traveling southbound. The pickup was T-boned and overturned. The 16-year-old female driving the Dodge was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. There was also a juvenile traveling in the pickup, but no updates on their condition have been provided. The truck driver, 28-year-old Jorge Alberto Chacon of Dodge City, was not hurt in the accident. No further information has been provided at this time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
