Montezuma, KS (May 10, 2024) – One person was killed and another was injured after a collision involving a commercial truck outside of Montezuma on Thursday, May 9. The deadly accident took place at the intersection of GG Road and County Road 10 early that morning around 10:35 a.m. Local reports revealed that a 2016 Ford F-550 pickup truck halting a farm tractor collided with a 2013 Kenworth hauling a trailer.
It was later revealed that 52-year-old Bruce Sonday from Montezuma was headed eastbound in the Ford as a 69-year-old man from Ulysses was traveling north in the Kenworth. It was reported that Sonday failed to yield to the truck, and the two vehicles collided. Sonday suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead. The Ulysses man was transported to Garden City Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident.
