Mulvane, KS (March 17, 2024) – On Saturday, March 16, an officer was killed after a collision in the Mulvane area. The fatal accident was reported on US-81 near 119th Street near the Kansas Star Casino early that morning at around 3:19 a.m. The incident occurred when the 19-year-old driver of a GMC Sierra failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection.
It was reported that Scott Hollinsworth, an officer with the Clearwater Police Department, was traveling southbound in a 2014 Audi. The GMC was traveling westbound on 119th Street when he failed to yield at the stop sign. The truck crashed into the side of the Audi, causing it to overturn onto its roof. Hollinsworth suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead by responding medical personnel. Four others in the pickup were hurt, with one being in serious condition. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing crash investigation.
