Overland Park, KS (February 25, 2025) – On Tuesday afternoon, a multi-vehicle collision occurred on the eastbound ramp from K10 to I35 Southbound in Johnson County. The crash took place at approximately 4:51 p.m. and involved three vehicles. Authorities confirmed that at least one person sustained serious injuries in the accident.
The crash occurred when a 2006 Ford Mustang, driven by 20-year-old Emilio Rios of Kansas City, Kansas, was traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to change lanes. The Mustang rear-ended a 2014 Nissan Altima before veering off the road and colliding with a crash attenuator. The impact sent the Mustang back into the roadway, where it was t-boned on the driver’s side by a 2020 Peterbilt truck. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and Rios was transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital with suspected serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan, 42-year-old Eric Nelson of Lawrence, Kansas, and the driver of the Peterbilt, 42-year-old Macrey Mshana of Spring Hill, Kansas, did not report any injuries. Traffic in the area was temporarily affected as authorities worked to clear the scene and investigate the incident.
