Overland Park, KS (December 4, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash occurred early Wednesday morning on I-35, just north of 18th Street, resulting in injuries for both drivers involved. The collision happened at approximately 6:30 a.m. and involved a 2020 Volkswagen Jetta and a 2014 Honda CR-V. Emergency responders arrived on the scene to provide assistance.
According to reports, the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta made an unsafe lane change from the #2 to the #3 lane, colliding with the Honda CR-V. The impact caused the Honda to spin out of control, striking the barrier wall on the left side of the roadway. Both drivers, identified as 24-year-old Marc Soares De Almeida and 57-year-old David Boehnke, reported suspected minor injuries. Mr. Soares De Almeida was transported to KU Medical Center for treatment, while Mr. Boehnke declined EMS transport. Both drivers were wearing safety restraints at the time of the collision.
Authorities temporarily closed portions of I-35 to clear the wreckage and investigate the crash. The incident is under investigation by local law enforcement, with further updates expected as more details emerge.
