Pittsburg, KS (August 22, 2024) – A driver was hurt after their vehicle was hit from behind by another car in the Pittsburg area on Wednesday, August 21. The collision took place at the crossing of US-69 and E. 620th Road that afternoon around 2:31 p.m. Local reports revealed that 19-year-old Abriel Schmidt of Pittsburg was stopped at a red light in a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox at the time of the crash. 

For unknown reasons, the Chevy was hit from behind by a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by John Wesley Hunter of Girard. Emergency crews were dispatched to the acne to provide aid to the involved parties. Schmidt was injured and transported by ambulance to Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg for treatment. No updates on the condition of the victim have been provided. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash, and more information will be provided as it continues.
