Reno, KS - Several Hurt in Sideswipe Crash on I-70

Reno, KS (October 12, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a two-vehicle collision outside of Reno on Friday, October 11. The accident took place on Interstate 70 EB near mile marker 211.6. Local reports revealed that 30-year-old Gaige Wilson of Stewartsville, MO, was stopped on the interstate in a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck due to heavy traffic headed east.

At the same time, 25-year-old Joseph Perron of Weston was traveling east in the second lane in a 2015 Ford Fusion. Wilson reportedly noticed that Perron was failing to slow down and made an evasive maneuver into the first lane. However, Perron also changed the lane to the first lane and sideswiped the Chevy. The Ford rotated and hit a concrete barrier. Emergency responders were sent to the scene. Perron and his passenger, 25-year-old Makayla Perron of Weston, were injured and transported to the Kansas University Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the crash is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are managing an ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
