Sawyer, KS (February 26, 2024) – Early on Saturday morning, February 24, two people were killed following a collision in the Sawyer area. The deadly accident was reported on KS-42 early that morning at around 11 a.m. Local reports indicated that a car was stopped in the eastbound lane, and the driver was standing in a nearby ditch.
A second vehicle driven by 90-year-old Uyel Martin was traveling east when it crashed into the rear of the stopped car. Marin and his passenger, later identified as 84-year-old Dove Martin, were killed in the impact. The driver of the other vehicle was outside the car and not hurt in the crash.
Emergency responders were dispatched to provide aid to the involved parties. The area was temporarily closed as local authorities worked to clear the scene.
