Scott City, KS (June 29, 2024) – One person was hurt following a crash involving two commercial trucks in the Scott City area on Saturday, June 29. The crash was reported at the intersection of US-83 and E. Road 270 early that morning around 12:30 a.m. Local reports indicated that 33-year-old Christian Niemann of Scott City was traveling eastbound on the highway in a 2006 Kenworth semi-truck at the time of the crash.
It was then reported that Niemann rear-ended a 2018 Peterbilt semi-truck driven by 22-year-old Carl P. Schutte, also from Scott City. It was reported that both trucks performed evasive maneuvers to avoid hitting another vehicle in their lane of travel, and both cars entered the shoulder leading up to the crash. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Niemann was transported by ambulance to Scott County Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No information on the collision is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
