Sherman County, KS (August 24, 2024) – One person was injured in an accident just after 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening, August 24, in Sherman County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Chrysler Town & Country driven by Domingo Perez, 79, Kanorado, was westbound on Old U.S. Highway 24 at County Road 5 when the accident occurred. Perez was apparently involved in a rear-end crash with a 2016 Ford F550 driven by Taylor Thomas Scott, 23, of Burlington, Colorado, and pulling a trailer.

EMS transported Perez to the Goodland Regional Medical Center, though Scott was not seriously injured and was released at the scene after being assessed. That said, the circumstances leading to the crash are still unknown. The area was temporarily closed while emergency crews were present, though no updates on the conditions of the injured parties have been provided. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more information will be released as it continues.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
