Smoky Hill, KS (October 5, 2024) – Three people were injured after a single-vehicle crash outside of Smoky Hill on Friday, October 4. The accident took place on Milford Lake Road south of Liberty Hall Road late that evening around 9:25 p.m. Local reports revealed that 19-year-old Troy L. Allen of Derby was traveling northbound in a 2012 Ford F-150 pickup truck when he lost control of the vehicle.
The truck was hauling a trailer that pulled it into an east ditch. The pickup continued traveling north in the ditch before hitting a concrete culvert, becoming airborne, and falling nearly 20 feet into a creek near the road. The vehicle came to a stop on its roof partially submerged in water. Emergency responders were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Allen and his two passengers, 19-year-old Cayden S. Arnett and 19-year-old Blake A. Huffman, both of Derby, were transported to Stormont Vail Junction City by ambulance for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress.
Our thoughts are with Troy L. Allen, Cayden S. Arnett, Blake A. Huffman, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
