Tonganoxie, KS (September 8, 2024) – There were reported injuries after a two-vehicle crash in the Tonganoxie area on Saturday, September 7. The accident was reported on Interstate 70 WB around 9:45 a.m. Local reports revealed that a 2007 Toyota Rav4 and a 2023 Honda CRV were headed westbound in the left lane of the interstate.
The driver of the Honda, 78-year-old Richard Freed of Ames, IA slowed due to traffic on the roadway. The driver of the Toyota, 28-year-old Genevieve Nace of Kansas City, MO was unable to stop in time and slammed into the back of the CRV. Emergency responders were rushed to the scene to aid the involved parties. Freed was injured in the impact and transported by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the collision is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
