Topeka, KS (April 23, 2024) – On Monday, April 22, a driver was injured after a rear-end collision in the Topeka area. The accident was reported at the intersection of US-24 WB and Kansas Avenue that afternoon around 4:20 p.m. Local reports revealed that two vehicles were traveling westbound on US-24 at the time of the crash.
It was later reported that a 2006 Dodge Dakota driven by 38-year-old Darold Leroy True of McLouth was traveling west ahead of a 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck driven by 53-year-old Troy W. Fleischer of Meriden. True reportedly slowed down due to the traffic on the road when he was rear-ended by the pickup. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, and True was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Rear-end Collisions in Kansas
It is difficult to know whether or not you will be in a car accident that would change your life. It is almost impossible to predict when you will be hit from behind unless your eyes are fixed on the rearview mirror. Rear-end collisions are the most often reported type of collision in the United States of America, accounting for about 1.7 million reported crashes annually. These nearly two million rear-end crashes result in an average of 1,700 fatalities and 500,000 injuries. These kinds of collisions are typically the result of the driver coming from behind, and the jerky motion from the impact can easily cause twisting or neck injuries.
