Topeka, KS (May 24, 2024) – A driver was injured after a three-vehicle crash in the Topeka area on Thursday, May 23. The incident was reported on Interstate 70 WB near SE Adams Street around 8:55 a.m. Local reports revealed that a 1996 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck and a 2016 Honda CR-V were traveling westbound on the interstate at the time of the accident.
It was later revealed that 46-year-old Lisa M. Gomez of Topeka was driving the GMC as traffic was slowing on the highway. Gomez failed to stop in time and crashed into the back of the Honda, driven by 35-year-old Jessica M. Kershner also from Topeka. The impact caused the Honda to be pushed into the back of a 2024 Kenworth semi-truck driven by 36-year-old Jared D. Davis of Mountain Grove, MO. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Kershner was transported by ambulance to Stormfront Vail Hospital in Topeka for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the incident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
