Topeka, KS (October 29, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a multi-vehicle collision in the Topeka area on Monday, October 28. The accident took place on Interstate 70 near SE Adams Street at around 12:15 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2011 Nissan Armada, a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander, and a 2019 Dodge Journey were all traveling westbound in the left lane of the interstate at the time of the crash.
A tractor-trailer was merging from the right to the left lane on the interstate, causing traffic to come to a stop. The driver of the Nissan, 22-year-old Chase Campbell of Berryton, failed to stop and crashed into the back of the Chevy, driven by 57-year-old Mark Lindensmith of Topeka. Lindensmith hit the inside barrier wall before bouncing off and hitting the Dodge, driven by 67-year-old Pedro Bahena-Lagunas of Kansas City. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene. Lindensmith and his passenger, 23-year-old Morgan Nusser of Topeka, were injured in the impact. Nusser was transported by ambulance to Stormont Vail for treatment. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
