Topeka, KS (April 30, 2024) – There were multiple injuries reported after a collision in the Topeka area on Monday, April 29. The crash took place on Interstate 335 SB near mile marker 167 that afternoon around 1:01 p.m. It was reported that 22-year-old Harsh Batish of Winnipeg was driving a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia when he was involved in a crash with a wrong-way driver.
The impact caused the truck to become disabled. The rig lost all power and lights due to the crash. It was then that a 2009 Mercedez-Benz C Class driven by 21-year-old Bryan Saucedo-Martinez of Wichita crashed into the rear of the truck. Saucedo-Martinez attempted to veer onto the shoulder to avoid hitting the rig but was unsuccessful.
Batish was injured and treated at the scene by attending medical personnel. Saucedo-Martinez and three of his passengers were injured in the crash. He, 28-year-old Christopher Brown Jr. of Wichita, 27-year-old Travion Rogers of Wichita, and 23-year-old Pierre Johnson of Wichita were all transported to Stormfront Vail Hospital by ambulance for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
Our thoughts are with Harsh Batish, Bryan Saucedo-Martinez, Christopher Brown Jr., Travion Rogers, Pierre Johnson, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
