Topeka, KS (April 18, 2024) – On Wednesday, April 17, two people were injured after a single-vehicle accident in the Topeka area. The crash was reported on Interstate 70 in Wabaunsee County that afternoon around 3:42 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2012 Chrysler 300 was traveling eastbound on the interstate when it left the highway near Ranch Road.
The vehicle entered a ditch and traveled for nearly 500 feet before overturning. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Both the driver and passenger in the vehicle were hurt in the crash, and they were transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka in serious condition. The injured parties were later identified as 35-year-old Kayla F. Pennington of Independence, MO, and 53-year-old Curtis L. Metro of Spring Hill. No updates on the accident are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
