Wichita, KS (August 7, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a pileup crash in the Wichita area on Tuesday, August 6. The collision took place on Interstate 235 NB near 25th Street that afternoon around 4:08 p.m. Local reports revealed that 57-year-old Kim Renee Frickey of Clearwater was traveling northbound in a 2017 GMC Acadia leading up to the collision. 

Frickey reportedly made a lane change into lane one and was rear-ended by a 2020 Forrester Subaru driven by 35-year-old Julie Marie Kurz of Aurora, CO. The Subaru was then rear-ended by a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 70-year-old Rusty L. Rathbun of Wichita, and the Chevy was rear-ended by a 2007 Lexus IS driven by 20-year-old Sokpheaktra Emily Kong of Wichita. A 2009 Mercdes-Benz E-Class driven by 40-year-old Lucan David Kuhse of Mount Hope missed the Lexus but hit the Subaru. Kong was injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
