Wichita, KS (June 5, 2024) – A motorcyclist was injured after a car accident in the Wichita area on Tuesday, June 4. The incident was reported at the intersection of K-96 and N. Hydraulic Avenue around 4:10 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 1986 Suzuki RS motorcycle, a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, a 2007 Ford Focus, and another vehicle were traveling northbound in the middle lane of K-96 at the time of the crash.
It was later revealed that 40-year-old Elizabeth Rocha Hernandez of Albuquerque, NM was driving the Tahoe ahead of the motorcycle, operated by 20-year-old Nikolas Raymond Belcher of Spivey. For unknown reasons, Hernandez stopped the SUV. Belcher attempted to stop the vehicle but was ejected over the handlebars, and the motorcycle hit the Chevy. The unknown vehicle ran over the Suzuki bike, and the Ford, driven by 19-year-old Shavonne Rose Belcher of Derby, was struck by the unknown driver. The unknown motorist fled the scene. The motorcyclist was transported to Wesley Medical Center by ambulance for the treatment of sustained injuries. No other injuries were reported. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress.
