Wichita, KS - Several Hurt in Wrong-way Crash at I-235 & Kellogg Dr

Wichita, KS (September 27, 2024) – There were multiple injuries after a wrong-way collision in the Wichita area on Thursday, September 26. The accident took place on Interstate 235 NB near Kellogg Drive early that morning around 1:26 a.m. Local reports revealed that 23-year-old Karolay Guerara Pardo of Florida was traveling south in a 2015 Nissan Altima in the northbound lanes of the interstate. 

The Nissan collided with a northbound 2014 Kia Soul driven by 71-year-old Eugene Glenn Sommerhauer of Clearwater. The vehicles crashed head-on. Emergency responders were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Both drivers reported injuries in the collision, along with a passenger in the Kia, 60-year-old Sherri Lemoyne Sommerhauser also from Clearwater. She was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
