Wichita, KS (September 14, 2024) – On Friday, September 13, several people were killed and others injured after a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver in Wichita. The fatal accident took place on K-96 near 13th Street late that night around 7:25 p.m. Local reports revealed that 48-year-old Amanda Fleming of Wichita was driving a 2014 Dodge Durango headed eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway.

At the same time, a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by 31-year-old Randall Hendrickson of Rose Hill and a 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck driven by Charles Robert Loges of McPherson were headed westbound. Fleming collided head-on with Hendrickson’s pickup, causing it to spin and hit the other Dodge Ram. The impact caused Hendrickson’s truck to burst into flames before coming to a rest on the north shoulder. The Durango came to a rest in the first lane.

Loges was towing a hitch that came dislodged before the truck spun out and came to a rest facing eastbound. Fleming, Hendrickson, and a juvenile passenger in his truck suffered fatal injuries in the impact. Loges and his two passengers, 59-year-old David Russell Yarborough of McPherson and 61-year-old Danny Moore of Windom were transported also injured in the impact. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress.
