Wichita, KS (October 27, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a two-vehicle collision in the Wichita area on Saturday, October 26. The accident took place on Interstate 135 SB near 2nd Street that afternoon around 12:34 p.m. Local reports that a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 20-year-old Shaban Mfaume of Wichita was disabled in lane two at the time of the crash. 

It was revealed that 38-year-old Monica Kim Tran of Wichita traveling southbound on the interstate in a 2007 Toyota Corolla. Tran was unable to stop in time and crashed into the back of the Chevy. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Mfaume was transported by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries, and Tran was provided aid at the scene by attending medical personnel. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
