Left-Turn Collisions: A Common Cause of Crashes in Kansas
Left-turn collisions, like the one reported at 21st Street and I-135, are a frequent cause of accidents at intersections. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), left turns account for almost 22% of all intersection crashes in the United States. These accidents often occur when drivers misjudge the speed or distance of oncoming vehicles or fail to yield the right of way.
To reduce the risk of such accidents, drivers are encouraged to exercise caution when turning, especially during peak traffic hours. Always double-check for oncoming vehicles and yield when necessary to ensure the safety of all road users.
