Wilson, KS (June 3, 2024) – Several people were injured after a pileup collision in the Wilson area on Sunday, June 2. The accident was reported on Interstate 70 near K-232 late that night, around 11:35 p.m. Local reports revealed that 18-year-old Elizabeth A. Lineberry of Colorado was traveling eastbound in a 2012 Ford Focus at the time of the crash.
Lineberry began to slow on the roadway due to impaired visibility caused by blowing dust. The Ford was hit from behind by a 2012 Toyota Highlander driven by 79-year-old William R. Thomas of Broken Arrow, OK before being hit again by a 2017 Ford Escape driven by 31-year-old Chantelle H. Meyer of Salina. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. A passenger in the Focus, 44-year-old Margaret A. Bojoquez of Flippin, AK, was transported to Hays Medical Center for treatment. A passenger in the Highlander, 76-year-old Karine M. Thomas, was transferred by ambulance to Ellsworth County Medical Center. The driver of the Escape suffered serious injuries and was transported to Salina Regional Medical Center. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress.
Our thoughts are with Margaret A. Bojoquez, Karine M. Thomas, Chantelle H. Meyer, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
